There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about: Margaret J Wheatley

The world of blockchain is extremely community-centric which means that your project success is also dependent on how is your community interacting and engaging with you and in turn with the product. Don’t you agree with this? We struggle daily on what is it that we can share with our community members for users to engage more with us and this kind of becomes a day-to-day job for your product where anything that happens with the project, you probably share this with your community on social channels such as Discord, Telegram, Twitter and so on.

But, in the current times, you must have seen a constant decrease in the intensity with which your community is engaging or interacting with your product. If your answer is No, then you are probably not tracking the community engagement numbers well or possibly that your community is super active which is an excellent thing. But for most of the projects, it is the case where the bear market has affected them and their engagement levels are not as they used to be earlier. Now coming to the main question, how would we tackle this? And, what would be the best way moving forward to bring that activeness? There would be a lot of questions popping around now as you very well understand the importance of engaging your community be it bear market or any market. Our team at AirLyft has jotted down some helpful points that you can follow to keep your members engaged. Without any further delays, let's dive deep into it.

Engagement via Competitions

It might sound a little improbable to you how is it gonna benefit doing competitions or hosting events during a bear market, however, it has proven to be one of the most effective methods. You need to very strategically choose the prize and effort ratio and build some tasks around it. We have to agree that incentivization is one of the best strategies to motivate your community members to stick longer. Another point worth noting is that the number of users who follow the crypto world in bizarre bear markets is in real sense users who can see potential in your product. With all these points in mind, it would be much better to have competitions around them. You can always use AirLyft to host your competition and create tasks around Twitter, Telegram, Discord, Subsocial, and other social channels to grow your community. One beautiful example is a simple task event carried out by our partner Supreme Finance to help users join and engage with their whitepaper.

Hosting Weekly Community Call

Hosting weekly community calls are like one of the best strategies for keeping your members engaged and this helps a lot especially when the market conditions aren’t better. Bear Market is a time when you focus more on building a product and this is the best time to share your journey and story with your community members. This makes them feel engaged with the product and they can find relevant points to interact better with you. The point of keeping these weekly calls is to keep the flow going and it doesn’t always have to be about the product itself but can also be about any general situation or your experience, or anything that you are planning to introduce in near future. There are lots that you can share with your members on this call and in due time, it will show phenomenal results. The key to success here is to maintain consistency and keep sharing. At AirLyft, we do keep our weekly calls every Friday which is an open floor discussion to let our community members share their feedback and their queries. Another best example is from EVMOS which hosts a community call every Tuesday on certain meeting agenda.

Hosting Engaging Tasks

There are always two sides of a conversation where one talks about a certain topic and the other half are listening to a certain topic. It doesn’t make sense for you to always be a talker and let your community also put their efforts to express their options and opinions about the project. It is a much better form of engagement if the inputs are from both ends and we are trying to achieve the same via hosting engaging tasks. These tasks can be anything from writing content about you on Twitter, creating a Telegram Sticker for you, creating a meme or video for you, or anything which allows users to put their efforts and build something for the project. This keeps the flow intact and promises much better and a much more personal engagement. Take a look at the event hosted by our partner Warriors of Freya where they have requested their users to create lore on their upcoming NFTs.

The results were phenomenal and have seen a lot of users actually posting about the theme of the content. It was also seen that users have been discussing these in their general chats explaining what story they have built. Isn’t it great???

Hosting Surprise Quizzes

Most of the time, whenever you host your events, as a project you inform your users about certain guidelines and timestamps on which the event will be live, and this kind of removes the suspense from the story. Being said that, another most effective method of engaging your community member is to randomly have certain events like quizzes, trivia, weekend events, and such on your Telegram or Discord channel without any announcements. This creates a much better dynamic engagement and increases user activity on your general chat channel. You should let them know that you will keep having weekly surprise quiz competitions where they can participate and earn rewards. As a result, your community members start getting more active in your channels and wait for the next quiz to be hosted. One of the most important points to note here is that keep a track of when your community members are the most active and host these random quizzes during those times.

Email-ing to Subscribers

We have to agree that even if we are sending out announcements on social channels, it is still overlooked by most and this doesn’t bring in lots of conversions.

How about taking a step forward to engage them more? Yes, you guessed it correctly. IT’S EMAIL TIME!

During bear market times, most of your community members don’t even care about checking what is going on in the group and for them to be active again, email has proven to be very effective. As a project, it is a must for you to reach out to your subscribers and give them a timely update on what is currently going on with the roadmap and what your visions are. Keep a balanced effort of INFORMING them and not OVER INFORMING which may lead to users unsubscribing from the list. Some of the best strategies on which you can go ahead with your email marketing are to let them be aware of any important updates your company is going through, to thank them for being a loyal community member, to let them know what events are being hosted, to let them know of any campaigns that are life which can be profitable for them and so on. These are a few of the many strategies that you can implement and keep your subscriber list intact with the product updates.

We have collated a few other strategies which will be coming in the second part or as an extension of this blog. Do follow our social channels below to stay updated.
